Reflecting & Getting Ready for The Great Move of 2012

I woke up this morning with the knowledge that in a week, just those few short days, we will be back in America for a long while.  These few years in Europe have gone by too fast.  For everything that I have seen, there are a million things that I haven’t seen.  I’m ready to be closer to my family and the American conveniences again. Oh!  The actual boarding of the plane and leaving will be bittersweet and sorrowful.  I’m quite sure I will cry.  Sob my little heart out.

There are many aspects of this move that I haven’t been able to help with.  Some things, I’ve been left to deal with on my own.  A few things Yummy Hubby and I have been able to do together, but as is the military way the active duty person has dealt with most items on their checklist.

I have to remind myself that we’re not exactly closing a door on this chapter of our lives; merely taking a different path as the road forks up ahead.  Many of our friends from Europe have already moved on to their next base.  Some will be close to us.  Some will still be far, far away. But we have a new adventure waiting and we have the opportunity to see our families as we journey to the next location.  Visiting with family will be the perfect catalyst to make me anxious for our next base!

Grateful thought for the day:  I am grateful we still have two cars at the moment.  I don’t have to wait for someone to pick me (yet, that begins later this week, yay…) so I’m able to finish up chores for the day while Yummy Hubby is still at work. And, now this is a  fun one, I am grateful for the ability to paint my toenails.  I was having a “woe is me” moment.  Painted my toenails, wiggled my piggies and all was right in the world again.  Sometimes it’s a simple as shifting your perspective.

Tschuss!

I’m grateful for the farmers along the Mosel river. They work year round perfecting their plants and grapes, working the earth, picking the grapes by hand, and bottling to produce some phenomenal green bottles of goodness. Thank you, Mary & Alfred!
